Final Film Opening Project!

My teammates and I have worked so diligently for the past months to provide our audience with a piece of our highest standards! We are very proud and excited to present to you The Bird has Left the Nest. Although there were many adversities we faced along the way, such as losing my boyfriend as one of our main rolls, not gaining access to our intended filming equipment, running out of storage while filming and more, we worked through it all as a team and provided this final outcome. It was stressful at times, with trying to create continuity between shots or agreeing on ways to go about our script, but I am very grateful for this experience, especially with my chosen partners. We have grown very close throughout this entire project, and I am excited to work with them in the near future!

Final Touches

Our final project is due next week! This has been a very stressful time period for me, with the juggling of the film opening, my other school classes, and relationship/personal issues. I have been completely open with my teammates on how hard this era was, and they have been nothing but supportive. I appreciate everything they have done for me and the time they have allowed me to give myself. I needed to disconnect to reconnect. But, in this final week, I really pushed myself to give the team my all. We had issues exporting the film, as it was turning out pixelated or the sounds were not lining up. This is what ate up a majority of our week. It felt like a really big blow, as we had finally finished our piece and were quite proud of the effort we put in, and we couldn't access or share the final copy. We sought help from Olivia's previous coworkers and they helped us finally export our project. We decided to host a little viewing party for our families and close friends as a way to commemorate the end of our partnership. If I have learned anything from this experience, it is that communication and teamwork is key. Patience, collaboration, and how you handle setbacks shapes your outcomes. I am glad that my team has been able to lean on each other and be adaptable while celebrating our victories, both big and small!

Editing Day 2

Since we got all of our clips chopped up and combined last week, this week was focused on aesthetics. To fix the coloring of the clips, we did some color grading. This was difficult because for some reason we had to do it to each individual clip and we wanted it to remain the same for each. Also, finding the right coloring for our opening was hard since we wanted to give off a certain vibe. we opted for a sort of greyish, highlighted look to give a feeling of a memory. This conveyed emotions of saying good bye, moving on, and big changes. The grey also added to the build towards the climax, showing audiences that not everything is bright and happy as it first seems. We added our chosen background music of solfeggio frequencies, which really made the whole piece come together. We watched our work all the way through after this step and we were very excited with what we had produced so far. We then added our titles and credits. We had each of the titles fade away, especially the main one, as it could feel like the holding on to the hope of a relationship. For our "production company" name, we decided to combine all of our nicknames into "Natliveva" to give a more personal touch. Although our project is very cringey and the acting isn't the best, we made sure to spend time giving attention to details, such as camera angles and props. My favorite clip is when Nathalie is closing the door of my car for me, and you see her reflection in the window. We thought this was a really nice touch of showing the emotions of both characters at the same time. We wanted to show my character's genuine feeling, so we added extra clips of me driving away, wiping my tears, while cutting to Nathalie's instant fade of emotions as she received the mysterious phone call.
